Sugapa Intan Jaya , SABTANEWS.COM – One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Thursday, 14 November 2024, the 509 Task Forces, especially the Holomama Post led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, conducted Social Communication (Komsos) with residents of the Puyagiya Village, Sugapa District, while performing the areal protection activity. This Komsos aims to foster trust and cooperation between the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the local community to support the Indonesian Government’s program of accelerating the development of the Papua region.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the community, the Commander of the 509 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, stressed the importance of the Task Forces' attention to the basic necessities of the community around the Post. Therefore, since its assignment in Papua, the Holomama Post has tried to utilize its assignment time by simultaneously conducting Territorial activities aimed at helping the people in the surrounding area. On Thursday, the Post received some children from Puyagiya Village visiting the Post for social communication.
During the task, the Soldiers interacted and communicated with the children. The residents shared updates on the security situation in Puyagiya village, which they described as still relatively safe and conducive. This reassurance about the residents' safety is a testament to the effectiveness of the military's operations. Furthermore, residents were happy with the soldiers' concern, who received their visit to the Post and played games together with them. One of the children, Ronal Tabuni, said, "Thank you, Commander 509. God bless you."
Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, acknowledged the 509 Task Forces’ initiative to communicate socially with some children from Puyagiya village. His words: "The 509 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive social communication with all stakeholders to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region." This recognition from the highest authority in HABEMA is not just a commendation but a testament to the importance and impact of such initiatives on the region's development.
